Lead Electrical Design Engineer

About the role

The Lead Electrical Design Engineer will oversee engineering design review and analysis for major oil & gas projects, ensuring high‑quality deliverables and compliance with client and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Support process‑industry project design and coordinate with engineers, design managers and discipline leads.
• Prepare and finalize the Engineering Document Deliverable Register (EDDR) and ensure timely submission of drawings and calculations.
• Produce electrical design deliverables using tools such as SmartPlant Electrical, AutoCAD, MicroStation, ETAP, DiaLux and perform cable sizing, lighting, relay setting and coordination.
• Review vendor documents, RFQs, MR & TBE, and ensure compliance with purchase order requirements.
• Coordinate inter‑discipline reviews, obtain client approvals, and incorporate health, safety, quality and constructability requirements.
• Participate in E‑HAZOP, HAZID, FAT, SAT, commissioning and preparation of as‑built documentation.

Required profile

• Engineering degree (BSc or MSc) with at least 15 years of electrical engineering experience in oil & gas, petrochemical or chemical sectors.
• Minimum 8 years in a senior role, including FEED and EPC project delivery to ADNOC on‑shore standards.
• Proven experience with reputable engineering consultants is an advantage.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; fluent English (Arabic a plus).
• Eligibility to work in the UAE.

Required skills

• MS‑Office, SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL), AutoCAD, MicroStation.
• ETAP, cable sizing, lighting calculation (DiaLux).
• Relay setting and coordination, CT sizing.
• Knowledge of OHL, GIS, EHT, CP, OLCMS, IPCS, VSD.
• Familiarity with ADNOC standards, IEC and BS codes.
