Lead Engineer Application Architecture & Scalability

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Lead Engineer to own the architecture and scalability of our on‑demand grocery delivery platform’s backend applications. The role sits within the development team, working closely with developers to ensure services are designed, built and released to handle high traffic and real‑time operations.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end application scalability, identify bottlenecks and drive performance fixes.
• Define and enforce architectural standards and CI guardrails for all services.
• Maintain Helm charts and release processes, ensuring clear configuration models.
• Implement application‑level observability (tracing, profiling, metrics) and monitor behaviour under load.
• Lead the AI‑driven SDLC initiative, building internal tools and agents for triage, diagnostics and code review.
• Mentor a small team on architecture best practices and engineering quality.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of software engineering experience with a proven track record in architecture and scalability.
• Hands‑on experience with modern web frameworks such as Ruby on Rails, Node.js or Django.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL) and caching solutions (Redis or Memcached).
• Experience with messaging/streaming systems like Apache Kafka, Azure Service Bus or RabbitMQ.
• Familiarity with frontend build and release processes for Angular, React or Vue.
• Practical experience with containers, Kubernetes and Helm chart authoring.
• Interest in applying AI to engineering workflows.
