Lead Quantity Surveyor (Post Contract)

About the role

Al Tayer Stocks is hiring a Lead Quantity Surveyor in Dubai for its Building & Interior divisions. The role acts as Post Contract Commercial Lead on larger-value projects and includes managing a junior commercial team.

Key responsibilities

• Assess tender BOQs against IFC information and update them, and handle float enquiries to obtain final supply-chain offers and adjudicate quotations.
• Prepare sub-contract and purchase orders, including drawings, programme and BOQs.
• Detect variations and changes to the contract with the project team, and prepare, negotiate and conclude variations and claims with subcontractors and clients.
• Prepare monthly project valuations and submit them on time to the employer, and review and issue monthly payment certificates to subcontractors.
• Procure insurances and bonds, draft contractual notices (e.g. notice of delay, variations and claims), and identify and submit variations to the employer.
• Prepare claims for extensions of time, keeping contemporary records, and undertake monthly cost reporting with the project manager.
• Prepare and conclude final accounts, and handle commercial matters during the defects liability period, including defects rectification, bond returns and retention releases.
• Help estimate potential projects when the estimation department is at full capacity.
• Guide and develop subordinates, motivating them to perform quality work and preparing them for higher-level roles.

Required profile

• Graduate in a construction discipline or equivalent.
• 7 to 10 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 7 years in post contract quantity surveying.
• Local market knowledge is an advantage.
