Lead System Administrator & Infrastructure

About the role

We are seeking a Lead System Administrator to own the design, implementation and ongoing management of our virtualised server and storage infrastructure. The role will oversee VMware environments, SAN storage platforms and Active Directory services, ensuring high availability, performance and security across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Administer VMware vCenter and ESXi (v7.x/v8.x) across a 9‑host cluster, including HA/DRS, resource pools, host patching and VM provisioning.
• Monitor physical host health via iLO/iDRAC, coordinate firmware and driver updates, and manage hardware failures and vendor RMA processes.
• Configure and maintain on‑premises servers for physical and virtual workloads, diagnose OS and application issues, and apply security patches.
• Manage HPE MSA 2060/2050, Dell EMC VNX and Huawei Dorado storage arrays – pool/volume creation, performance monitoring, firmware upgrades and drive replacements.
• Configure SAN fibre‑channel zoning, ISL links and port assignments, and monitor fabric health to resolve path failures.
• Administer Active Directory for 25,000+ objects, handling user lifecycle, group memberships, OU structure and GPO design and audits.
• Maintain Azure AD Connect, monitor synchronization cycles, resolve sync errors and produce compliance reports.
• Oversee enterprise DHCP scopes and reservations across all network segments.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing VMware, SAN storage and Active Directory environments at scale.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives and coordinate with hardware vendors.
• Strong analytical skills for capacity planning, performance tuning and incident resolution.
