Learning Assistant

About the role

The Learning Assistant supports the personal and academic development of designated students with special educational needs, working under the guidance of the class teacher and Head of Inclusion/SENCO at Dubai School Nad Al Sheba.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in delivering lessons and provide feedback to the named student(s) on learning and behaviour.
• Supervise and facilitate individual support aligned with each student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) or pupil passport targets.
• Record and share observations, concerns and achievements with teachers, support staff and external agencies.
• Communicate progress to parents through regular emails and reports.
• Maintain up‑to‑date IEP/pupil passport files, minutes and related documentation.
• Contribute to the physical, emotional and social well‑being of the children.
• Attend staff meetings, professional development days and accompany students to extracurricular activities when required.
• Provide flexible support to other students or areas of the school as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum high school education with proficiency in English and Maths (preferred but not essential).
• Experience or demonstrated aptitude for working with students who have special educational needs.
• Ability to follow safeguarding policies and undergo background checks.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with teachers, parents and external agencies.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Individual Education Plans (IEP) and pupil passport processes.
• Ability to record, analyse and report student progress.
• Competence in maintaining confidential student records.
