Learning Support Assistant – Support Students with Additional Needs

About the role

The Learning Support Assistant (LSA) works closely with teachers and the Inclusion Team to help students with additional learning needs access the curriculum, achieve personal goals and fully participate in school life. Reporting to the Class Teacher and Head of Inclusion, the LSA delivers targeted academic, social and emotional support in an inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers and inclusion staff to support identified learners during lessons and interventions.
• Prepare and organise learning materials, resources and adapted activities.
• Deliver structured learning tasks, monitor participation and provide feedback to teachers.
• Assist with the implementation and documentation of Individual Education Plans, Student Support Plans and other intervention programmes.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress, support provided and achievement against targets.
• Support classroom assessments, testing, examinations and marking as directed.
• Accompany students on educational visits, enrichment activities and school events.
• Promote positive relationships, wellbeing and independence among students.
• Identify and report any safeguarding, attendance or welfare concerns promptly.
