About the role

The Legal Knowledge & Development Counsel will drive the institution’s knowledge function, curating a comprehensive legal knowledge base, producing thought‑leadership content, and supporting internal legal development. This role is ideal for a qualified lawyer with a strong interest in international arbitration who wishes to expand beyond front‑line practice into strategic, institutional, and publishing activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and maintain arbitrateAD’s internal knowledge repository, including precedents, research notes, procedural guidance, and commentary.
  • Monitor and analyse arbitral awards, court decisions, legislative changes, and rule updates, especially within the MENA region and ADGM/UAE frameworks.
  • Research, draft, and publish a regular newsletter, legal articles, briefing notes, blog posts, and external journal contributions.
  • Prepare speeches, presentations, and written submissions for senior leadership at conferences and events.
  • Contribute to the development of arbitrateAD’s rules, practice notes, and guidance documents.
  • Prepare board and committee meeting materials, agendas, briefing papers, and minutes.
  • Support the Executive Director with research packs, talking points, and presentation materials for external engagements.
  • Design and deliver training sessions, seminars, and webinars for practitioners, students, and stakeholders.
  • Assist in business development by preparing pitches, capability statements, and promotional materials.

Required profile

  • Qualified lawyer (barrister, solicitor, or equivalent) in a common‑law or civil‑law jurisdiction.
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in international arbitration, preferably with exposure to the MENA region.
  • Intellectual curiosity, self‑direction, and proactive attitude.
  • Comfort operating in a start‑up institutional environment.
  • Strong analytical, research, and writing abilities.
