Local Purchaser – Scrap Procurement

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Local Purchaser to source, negotiate and procure metal scrap across the United Arab Emirates. The role involves frequent field visits, on‑site material inspections and building long‑term relationships with foundries, scrap yards and industrial suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Visit local foundries, scrap yards and industrial sites to identify and secure scrap supply.
• Inspect incoming scrap on‑site to confirm grade, quality and weight before purchase.
• Negotiate purchase prices in line with market rates and company budget targets.
• Maintain a supplier database, tracking pricing trends, availability and delivery reliability.
• Coordinate loading, weighing and transportation of scrap to company facilities, complying with UAE transport and safety regulations.
• Manage purchase orders, weighbridge slips, invoices and payment receipts according to local commercial laws.
• Monitor market trends and competitor activity to optimise buying strategies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in local purchasing, field procurement or vendor management within the UAE, preferably in metal, steel or scrap sectors.
• Excellent interpersonal and negotiation abilities.
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
• Valid UAE driver’s licence and willingness to travel extensively across the UAE.
• Knowledge of metal scrap grading, foundry operations and weight verification is a plus.
