Maintenance Support Specialist

About the role

Assist by overseeing and coordinating maintenance support services contractors for welding, rigging, scaffolding, leak sealing, Non‑Destructive Examination (NDE), pressure vessel work, Foreign Material Exclusion (FME) and civil maintenance at the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant. The role ensures all activities meet regulatory, nuclear safety, industrial safety and environmental protection requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Execute and support maintenance tasks in a timely, quality‑focused manner, including contractor activities.
• Conduct inspections, repairs, modifications and rebuilds of plant equipment and structures as directed.
• Analyze equipment deficiencies and safety events to define corrective actions.
• Follow industrial, nuclear, radiation safety and regulatory compliance to promote a safety‑conscious environment.
• Endorse training, benchmarking and WANO best practices for continuous improvement.
• Implement and follow a resource‑loaded schedule to achieve required maintenance.
• Ensure ALARA principles are applied to keep radiological exposure as low as reasonably achievable.
• Mobilise and supervise maintenance support contractors, overseeing welding qualifications, rigging, lifting, scaffolding, leak‑sealing techniques and gas‑main inspections.

Required profile

• Proven experience in industrial or nuclear plant maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations, nuclear standards and environmental requirements.
• Ability to coordinate multiple contractors and manage complex maintenance programmes.
• Analytical mindset with a focus on preventing recurrence of safety events.
• Commitment to a safety‑first culture and continuous improvement.
