Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) Toolpusher

About the role

Stena Drilling is looking for an MPD Toolpusher to act as the primary link between the client/MPD engineer and the drill and MPD crew during managed pressure drilling operations. The role covers safety, system readiness, coordination of MPD operations and after-action reviews, and is accountable for the safety of personnel under its direction.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure MPD operations are safe and efficient, in line with Stena Drilling's MPD policies, the client's drilling program and the well control philosophy agreed with crews.
• Run and document regular drills covering MPD-specific well control, riser gas handling and contingency scenarios.
• Review the client's MPD program against company policy and procedure, and liaise with Rig Management and Aberdeen Operations on gaps.
• Prepare the MPD system for upcoming operations with maintenance, preservation, pre- and post-use checks and pressure testing, working with the Senior Subsea Engineer and Chief Engineer.
• Order consumables and rental equipment in time, and keep the system within its operating limits and pressure relief philosophy.
• Coordinate MPD operations while underway, make sure procedures are followed and updated, and keep Influx Management guidance available in the drillers' control room.
• Keep RCD bearing assemblies and running tools available, liaising with the Subsea department where equipment is rig owned.
• Set and update MPD limits, set-points and alarms each shift, and verify line-ups and isolations.
• Make sure all personnel know their roles, and approve any changes to scope or MPD parameters affecting bottom hole pressure.
• Keep technical teams informed of schedules and system availability, run after-action reviews, and take part in accident and incident investigations.

Required profile

• IWCF well control certificate.
• Previous toolpusher experience on a similar vessel.
• Direct experience of MPD operations.
• Self-motivated, mechanically minded, strong forward planner and strong communicator.
