Manager, Cloud Engineering

About the role

EGA is creating its first dedicated cloud engineering function to transition from a largely on‑premises model to a secure, governed Azure cloud environment. As the Manager, Cloud Engineering you will act as the primary cloud authority, defining strategy, architecture and engineering foundations while building a small team of engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Assess the current infrastructure landscape, Azure footprint, SaaS portfolio and on‑premises data centre to establish a baseline for cloud adoption.
• Define EGA’s cloud strategy and migration roadmap, prioritising workloads, outlining target architectures, phasing, dependencies and cost implications.
• Establish cloud architecture principles, reference patterns and guardrails across IaaS, PaaS and SaaS to ensure secure, supportable designs.
• Design approved cloud patterns for hosting, integration, identity, security logging, networking and disaster recovery.
• Lead end‑to‑end migration of on‑premises workloads (including VMware environments) to Azure using tools such as Azure Migrate and Azure Site Recovery.
• Perform workload discovery, dependency mapping, migration wave planning and post‑migration validation.
• Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to optimise workloads for cloud operation rather than simple lift‑and‑shift.
• Stay current with Azure platform developments and evaluate new capabilities for relevance to EGA’s roadmap.
• Build and lead a cloud engineering team of up to five engineers, establishing processes for scalable cloud operations.

Required profile

• Deep technical expertise in cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure.
• Proven experience designing and executing large‑scale data‑centre to cloud migrations.
• Strong leadership capability to define strategy, set architectural standards and build a high‑performing engineering team.
• Understanding of hybrid environments and UAE data‑residency requirements.
• Ability to translate business needs into secure, cost‑effective cloud solutions.
