Manager Data Scientist - AI

About the role

As a Manager, Data Scientist - AI within talabat's Applied AI Tribe, you will lead a team that builds and ships machine‑learning and generative‑AI systems powering product and business decisions. You will balance people leadership with hands‑on technical work, owning the roadmap and delivery of high‑impact AI solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, grow and retain a team of data scientists, setting technical standards and supporting career development.
• Translate ambiguous business problems into scoped ML/AI solutions with measurable success criteria.
• Own the technical roadmap across data enrichment, business automation, self‑serve tooling and agentic product features.
• Ensure evaluation pipelines, LLM observability and production feedback loops are in place before building agent logic.
• Oversee the full ML lifecycle: data pipelines, feature engineering, model training, deployment, serving and monitoring.
• Partner with product managers, engineering and business stakeholders to identify high‑value AI opportunities and communicate results.

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience in data science, ML engineering or generative AI, with a track record of shipping models to production.
• 2+ years of experience leading or managing a data‑science or ML team.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field; postgraduate degree is a plus.
