Manager - Shari’a Audit

About the role

The Manager – Shari’a Audit will lead internal Shari’a audit assignments for ADIB, ensuring compliance with Shari’a principles and mitigating non‑Shari’a risk. This senior position reports to the Internal Shari’a Supervisory Committee and works closely with audit teams and IT projects.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise and execute internal Shari’a audit assignments based on risk‑based audit approach.
• Develop and update Shari’a audit programmes, checklists and authority letters.
• Coordinate with the Shari’a IT Project team to generate required audit reports.
• Compile and review resolutions of the Internal Shari’a Supervisory Committee and integrate them into audit plans.
• Present audit findings to audit members, team leaders and line management.
• Provide recommendations on policies to ensure alignment with Shari’a rules.

Required profile

• Proven experience in internal audit, preferably within Islamic banking.
• Strong understanding of Shari’a compliance and risk management.
• Ability to work independently on complex audit assignments and lead medium/low‑risk audits.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of AAOIFI standards.
• Familiarity with Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards.
• Experience drafting and revising audit programmes and checklists.
