Manager - Sharia Documentation

About the role

The Manager – Sharia Documentation ensures that all bank documents, contracts, products, policies, processes and marketing materials comply with Sharia law and relevant UAE regulatory standards. The role supports the Head of the Unit in monitoring compliance across the bank, its subsidiaries and affiliates, and promotes a culture of Sharia compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with UAE Federal Law No. 14 of 2018, ISSC and CBUAE‑HSA requirements, the Sharia Governance Framework and AAOIFI standards.
• Analyse new HSA circulars, prepare gap reports and follow up with stakeholders to close gaps.
• Supervise Sharia review of documents, contracts, products, manuals, marketing materials, policies and procedures.
• Develop and update internal checklists, processes and policies for Sharia review.
• Oversee Sharia compliance reviews of subsidiaries and integrate their reports into the bank’s overall report.
• Escalate non‑compliance issues, recommend remedial actions and prepare periodic compliance reports for senior management.
• Promote Sharia compliance culture and improve staff awareness across the group.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies, Sharia, Islamic Finance, Law or related field (master’s preferred).
• 7‑10 years of experience in Sharia compliance, audit or Islamic banking, including supervisory experience.
• Preferred certifications: CIPA, CSAA or other AAOIFI certifications.
• Fluent in Arabic and English.
