Managing Quantity Surveyor

About the role

The Managing Quantity Surveyor delivers end-to-end cost consultancy services across projects, ensuring accuracy, quality, compliance and alignment with client requirements. The role leads and manages a team of Quantity Surveyors and covers the duties of both Senior and regular Quantity Surveyors, including mandatory review of cost plans, BOQs, tenders, contracts and claims.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and mentor a team of Senior, Intermediate and Junior Quantity Surveyors, allocate responsibilities and coordinate with Project Managers and design teams.
• Oversee and review cost plans, estimates, budgets, cash flow forecasts, cost control and value engineering.
• Manage tendering: BOQ preparation, tender documentation, tender analysis and comparison, and negotiate contracts and contract sums.
• Administer FIDIC or equivalent contracts, review variations, claims, interim payments and final accounts, and flag contractual risks to clients.
• Serve as the main QS point of contact for clients, attend project meetings and give commercial advice.
• Prepare monthly cost reports, cash flow forecasts and project financial summaries, and support the Commercial Manager with executive summaries and fee bids.
• Support departmental planning, resource allocation and business development, and implement standard QS procedures and templates.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil / MEP Engineering.
• Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in the field.
• Proven experience in tendering and Design & Build environments.
• MRICS, MAIQS (CQS) or equivalent preferred, to be obtained within two years of joining if not already held.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts and Method of Measurement.
• Extensive understanding of building pathology, construction technology and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to provide high-level cost advice and project briefings at any stage.
