Material Engineer - Construction & Interior Fit-Out

About the role

Careers International is looking for an experienced Material Engineer in Dubai with strong experience in construction and interior fit-out projects. The engineer manages material approvals, reviews technical specifications, coordinates with suppliers and project teams, and ensures all materials meet the required quality and project standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review project drawings, specifications, BOQs and material requirements, and identify and recommend suitable materials.
• Prepare and submit Material Submittals (MS) for consultant and client approval, and follow up on approvals while keeping proper records.
• Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers for technical data sheets, samples and certificates.
• Ensure materials comply with project specifications, approved standards and consultant requirements.
• Inspect delivered materials against approved samples and specifications, and coordinate corrective action for non-conforming items.
• Evaluate alternative materials and give technical recommendations when needed.
• Maintain material registers and approval logs, and assist project teams with technical queries.
• Ensure materials come from approved, reliable suppliers and stay updated on materials, standards and industry practice.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related field.
• 3-7 years of experience in material engineering or material management within construction, interior fit-out or contracting companies.
• Experience preparing and managing material submittals and approvals, and dealing with consultants, suppliers, manufacturers and site teams.
• Good knowledge of material quality standards and compliance requirements.
• Strong documentation, coordination and follow-up skills, and good communication skills.
• UAE construction/fit-out experience preferred.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of construction and fit-out materials, including civil, architectural, finishing and MEP-related materials.
• Proficiency in MS Office; AutoCAD and other engineering software is an advantage.
• Preferred: material sourcing and evaluation, quality control and inspection, supplier coordination, and construction specifications.
