Material Inspector

About the role

Parsons is seeking a skilled Material Inspector to ensure that all construction materials meet project specifications and standards. You will work on‑site, performing inspections, sampling, and testing of a wide range of materials used in utilities and infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, sample, and verify incoming construction materials such as concrete, asphalt, aggregates, steel, pipes, cables, and finishes.
• Witness or conduct field and laboratory tests (e.g., concrete slump, cube, compaction, rebar, coating tests) according to relevant standards.
• Review and validate material test reports from independent and project laboratories.
• Coordinate test scheduling with contractors and laboratories to avoid construction delays.
• Monitor storage, handling, and protection of materials on site to prevent damage or contamination.
• Reject or quarantine non‑conforming materials and document corrective actions.
• Maintain comprehensive records of inspections, test requests, results, non‑conformance reports, and material approvals.
• Assist in reviewing material submittals, certificates of compliance, and mill test certificates.
• Collaborate with construction and quality teams to resolve material‑related issues.

Required profile

• Technical diploma or degree in a related field with at least 5 years of material inspection experience, or a Civil Engineering degree with a minimum of 3 years on utilities projects.
• Prior experience working in the United Arab Emirates.

Required skills

• Familiarity with field and laboratory test methods and equipment (concrete slump, cube, compaction, rebar, coating tests).
• Ability to read and interpret project specifications, drawings, and material submittals.
• Proficiency in MS Office and project‑related reporting systems.
