Materials Inspector – Roads & Infrastructure

About the role

The Materials Inspector will support major roads, drainage and sewerage projects in Dubai, ensuring that all materials and works meet AECOM’s specifications and quality standards. The role combines on‑site inspections, supervision of construction activities and coordination with contractors, testing laboratories and authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect site conditions before construction to verify compatibility with approved designs and document existing conditions.
• Review and verify delivered materials against approved samples, specifications and equipment lists, reporting non‑conformances.
• Monitor proper storage and protection of materials on‑site to maintain quality.
• Inspect temporary and permanent works for compliance with contract documents, shop drawings and specifications.
• Prepare daily inspection logs, test reports and site records in line with contract administration procedures.
• Observe site safety practices, report unsafe conditions and ensure work follows approved safety procedures.
• Issue Non‑Conformance Reports and Site Observation Reports, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Assist in final inspections, prepare punch lists and support testing, commissioning and handover activities.
• Review contractors’ RFIs related to civil materials and provide technical recommendations.
• Coordinate with third‑party testing laboratories and ensure material tests meet project standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a relevant technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in material testing and field inspection, preferably in the Middle East.
• Experience with roads, drainage, sewerage, pump stations or irrigation projects.
• Knowledge of DCL approval processes is preferred.
