Mechanical Engineer (MEP) - HVAC, Plumbing & Life Safety

About the role

AEMCO, an electromechanical contracting and maintenance company based in Abu Dhabi, is looking for a Mechanical Engineer (2-6 years of experience) to join its team on a full-time basis. The engineer designs, reviews and implements mechanical systems, with a focus on HVAC, plumbing and life safety systems, bridging design office engineering and site execution.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and modify technical drawings and specifications in AutoCAD, and perform mechanical load calculations and equipment sizing
• Source, select and order materials, and manage Material Submittals for consultant and client approval
• Prepare and process site inspection paperwork, including Material Inspection Requests (MIR) and Work Inspection Requests (WIR)
• Inspect sites regularly, troubleshoot layout conflicts and ensure installations match approved shop drawings
• Coordinate testing, balancing and commissioning of HVAC, plumbing and firefighting equipment before handover
• Work daily with architectural, structural and electrical teams to keep MEP solutions clash-free
• Communicate with clients, consultants and subcontractors and maintain project documentation

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
• 2-6 years of experience in MEP construction, design and site execution, preferably in the UAE
• Working knowledge of local UAE regulations (e.g., Abu Dhabi International Building Code, Civil Defence guidelines) and international standards (ASHRAE, NFPA)
• Active problem solving, clear technical documentation and professional communication with stakeholders

Required skills

• Advanced AutoCAD and standard calculation tools for load and system sizing
• Familiarity with MIR, WIR and Material Submittal workflows
• Competence in HVAC design, plumbing layouts and life safety system integration
