Mechanical Engineering Manager

About the role

Petrofac is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers and designers across the full project life‑cycle, from field development studies through design, procurement and operational support. The role combines technical oversight with people management to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and lead a team of engineers and designers, providing mechanical engineering input throughout the project life‑cycle.
• Prepare technical information for procurement, ensuring compliance with tender specifications and project schedules.
• Review Invitation to Tender (ITT) documents, identify scope, technical requirements and risks, and develop a risk register.
• Critically assess equipment sizing, configuration and cost, and moderate cost and man‑hour estimates.
• Conduct contract reviews to identify inconsistencies related to scope, HSE and technical requirements.
• Define clear scope of work, plan and schedule engineering activities, and allocate manpower resources.
• Coordinate with project and planning teams to establish target completion dates and monitor progress.
• Develop manpower charts, recommend cost‑effective measures and ensure delivery of engineering deliverables on schedule.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading mechanical engineering teams in the energy or industrial sector.
• Strong understanding of procurement processes, contract review and risk management.
• Ability to develop and manage project schedules, manpower plans and cost estimates.
• Excellent communication skills to coordinate with multidisciplinary stakeholders.
