Media Compliance Counsel

About the role

Deriv is looking for a Media Compliance Counsel to define the line between marketing content and regulated financial promotion across more than 25 jurisdictions. You will interpret ambiguous regulatory frameworks, advise marketing teams, and ensure that promotional activities do not create licensing exposure.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct legal and regulatory research on marketing, solicitation and cross‑border promotion rules.
• Interpret how marketing regulations apply to Deriv’s content and products worldwide.
• Assess when marketing material triggers regulated activity requirements and advise on licensing needs.
• Provide guidance on jurisdiction‑specific compliance, including when content is permissible in one market but not another.
• Review marketing materials that require legal interpretation and make definitive calls on ambiguous cases.
• Collaborate with engineers to integrate AI tools that flag potential compliance issues.

Required profile

• Legal qualification with experience in financial services or regulatory compliance.
• Proven ability to research and interpret complex regulatory frameworks.
• Experience advising commercial or marketing teams on compliance matters.
• Strong analytical skills and comfort making judgment calls under uncertainty.
