Medical Laboratory Technologist - Clinical Genomics

About the role

M42's Integrated Health Solutions (IHS) platform runs national programs and population health initiatives, including the Emirati Genome Program, the Abu Dhabi BioBank and Biogenix Labs. It is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist for its Clinical Genomics team. The role covers laboratory procedures supporting the analysis of clinical specimens, under the supervision of the Genomics Laboratory Supervisor, preparing, processing and analysing samples with molecular biology and genomic techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Perform manual and automated extraction and purification of DNA/RNA from clinical specimens such as blood, tissue and bone marrow.
• Prepare DNA libraries and use sequencing platforms for basic genomic analysis.
• Operate and troubleshoot Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) equipment.
• Conduct PCR, Sanger sequencing and MLPA testing.
• Carry out QA/QC procedures, keep accurate documentation and troubleshoot technical issues.
• Take part in validation activities, instrument setup and daily lab operations.
• Help maintain compliance with CAP/ISO standards with the quality department.
• Stay up to date with clinical genomics literature and techniques, and support the development of NGS methods and workflows.
• Ensure data accuracy and compliance with GCLP and internal SOPs, and communicate well with the lab team and line manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Molecular Biology or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory, including at least 1 year in molecular biology or genomics.
• Hands-on experience with Sanger sequencing, MLPA, NGS and/or microarray techniques.
• Experience in a CAP or ISO 15189 accredited laboratory.
• DOH/DHA license or eligibility.
• Fluent in English.

• Proficiency with automated laboratory systems.
