MEP Engineer

About the role

The Mechanical Site Engineer for substation projects will supervise and execute all mechanical works on site, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and project timelines. This hands‑on role involves coordination, inspection, installation, and commissioning of systems such as transformer auxiliaries, firefighting, HVAC, oil filtration and related equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise day‑to‑day mechanical activities, including installation of transformer cooling, firefighting, HVAC, piping, pumps and oil handling systems, and monitor contractor performance.
• Oversee testing, commissioning and pre‑commissioning checks of mechanical equipment, coordinate with vendors and resolve issues during startup.
• Conduct quality inspections, prepare reports, raise observations and ensure corrective actions in line with project specifications and QA/QC procedures.
• Coordinate with electrical, civil and other discipline teams, liaise with subcontractors and consultants, and provide regular progress updates in site meetings.
• Enforce health, safety and environmental standards, ensure proper use of PPE and conduct safety checks on all mechanical activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising mechanical works on substation or similar industrial projects.
• Ability to read and interpret approved drawings, specifications and method statements.
• Strong coordination skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and external vendors.
• Commitment to adhere to project schedules, quality standards and HSE regulations.
