Microbiology Technologist

About the role

The Microbiology Technologist performs routine and advanced microbiological testing to support diagnosis, treatment and prevention of infectious diseases in a hospital laboratory setting.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct bacteriological, mycological, parasitological and virological examinations on clinical specimens and report results within established turnaround times.
• Perform antimicrobial susceptibility testing and communicate critical or abnormal results to physicians promptly.
• Manage reagents, calibrators, quality control materials and inventory to ensure uninterrupted laboratory operations.
• Participate in quality control, proficiency testing, internal audits and compliance activities with CAP, DHA and JCI standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory technology, microbiology or equivalent.
• Current valid Dubai Health Authority (DHA) license for Microbiology Technologist.
• Minimum two years of experience in medical microbiology.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Bacteriological, mycological, parasitological and virological analysis techniques.
• Antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
• Use of Laboratory Information System (LIS) for documentation and reporting.
• Quality control, proficiency testing and regulatory compliance.
