Neonatal ICU Specialist (Hospitalist)

About the role

The Neonatal ICU Specialist will deliver comprehensive inpatient neonatal care at King’s College Hospital, working under the supervision of Consultant/ Specialist Neonatologists. This hospitalist role ensures continuity of care, accurate documentation, and adherence to hospital policies and international neonatal standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day clinical care for neonatal inpatients, including monitoring, treatment implementation, and coordination of care plans.
• Manage a caseload of preterm and high‑risk newborns within the inpatient neonatal units.
• Escalate clinical concerns promptly to supervising consultants and support agreed management plans.
• Maintain high standards of patient safety, quality of care, and clinical outcomes in line with hospital policies and UAE medical authority regulations.
• Collaborate closely with Consultant Neonatologists, nursing staff, and allied health professionals to deliver coordinated, family‑centred care.
• Perform ward‑based procedures within granted privileges, ensuring appropriate consent and timely escalation for deteriorating patients.
• Document patient information accurately and communicate effectively with families.
• Participate in clinical governance, audits, risk management, and continuous professional development activities.

Required profile

• Medical qualification with experience in neonatal care.
• Ability to work under supervision of senior neonatologists.
• Familiarity with UAE medical health authority regulations and hospital clinical governance standards.
• Commitment to ongoing CPD and participation in clinical meetings.
