NICU Staff Nurse

About the role

The NICU Staff Nurse provides age‑appropriate, high‑quality care to newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Madinat Zayed Hospital. The role aligns with the organization’s mission, vision, and professional nursing standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in accordance with hospital policies and NICU scope of service.
• Coordinate individualized care from admission through discharge, including discharge planning.
• Identify and act on significant changes in patient condition, reporting to supervisors or physicians as needed.
• Administer medications safely, monitor patient responses, and report adverse drug reactions.
• Supervise and mentor practical nurses, midwives, junior staff, and student nurses; act as a preceptor for new staff.
• Participate in performance reviews, organizational change initiatives, and interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Respond to emergencies following hospital protocols and promote a cost‑effective use of resources.

• Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team and act as a role model.
• Willingness to mentor and supervise junior staff and students.

Required skills
