Nursing Unit Manager – Royal/VIP Unit

About the role

The Nursing Unit Manager for the Royal/VIP unit will oversee the delivery of age‑appropriate patient care in line with the organization’s mission, vision and values. This role ensures nursing staff comply with professional codes of conduct and regulatory scopes of practice while leading the Nursing Leadership Team to achieve optimal clinical outcomes, patient safety and satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with senior nursing leadership to ensure efficient healthcare delivery and act as the focal point for nursing‑related issues.
• Participate in budget preparation and control for the unit, providing clinical and administrative reports.
• Coordinate hospital services during shifts, manage disasters, codes and incidents according to policy.
• Lead recruitment, staff skill‑mix planning, bed allocation and utilization monitoring.
• Support evidence‑based practice, quality initiatives and a healthy workplace environment.
• Collaborate with non‑nursing departments to resolve issues impacting patient care.
• Chair or co‑chair interdisciplinary committees and act as a change agent for the organization.
• Facilitate effective patient flow by optimizing bed capacity and staffing resources.
