Ocean Freight Customer Relations Specialist

About the role

DHL Global Forwarding is looking for an Ocean Freight Customer Relations Specialist to join its Dubai team. You will be the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring shipments are executed smoothly and service commitments are met.

Key responsibilities

• Administer shipment‑level activities, including receipt of bookings and preparation of required documentation.
• Act as the first point of contact for shipment information, exception handling, complaints and claims.
• Support routing and assignment of shipments to meet service promises while maximising profitability.
• Prepare accurate invoices, supporting documentation and resolve invoice disputes.
• Own the profitability of each file and execute regulatory compliance procedures.
• Maintain strong relationships with existing clients, identify upsell opportunities and support customer retention.
• Analyse daily delivery issues, propose best‑practice improvements and support performance monitoring of suppliers.
• Participate in PDs, GEMBA activities and share improvement ideas.
• Assist in transport order creation, booking optimisation and customs shipment updates.

Required profile

• Experience in ocean freight operations and customer service.
• Strong knowledge of shipment documentation, invoicing and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to manage profitability and resolve operational issues.
• Excellent communication skills and a customer‑first mindset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
