Operations Engineer – Facilities & Maintenance

About the role

The Operations Engineer will oversee facilities and operational activities across a portfolio of buildings, ensuring high service quality, safety, and energy efficiency. You will coordinate preventive and reactive maintenance, manage supplier relationships, and support the Facilities Manager in project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular site inspections of hard and specialist services, ensuring all documentation is complete.
• Track and organise preventive and reactive maintenance performed by service providers.
• Communicate with on‑site service providers to confirm schedule adherence.
• Monitor specialist systems and ensure service delivery meets SLAs and KPIs.
• Plan, schedule and review day‑to‑day operational and maintenance activities for all MEP systems.
• Investigate and resolve complaints, disturbances, and operational issues in coordination with facilities, landlord, and tenants.
• Maintain departmental and site documentation, and ensure compliance with building rules, community guidelines, and legal/statutory requirements.
• Support the Facilities Manager on project implementation and assist the purchasing department with equipment procurement.
• Prepare and submit regular reports (inspection, KPI, incident, energy consumption, etc.).
• Identify energy‑saving opportunities and implement measures to improve efficiency.
• Manage relationships with clients, stakeholders, vendors, and regulatory bodies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in facilities or building operations management.
• Familiarity with MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems and preventive maintenance processes.
• Understanding of building rules, community guidelines, and legal/statutory requirements.
• Ability to produce accurate operational and technical reports.
• Strong communication skills for liaising with service providers, tenants, and management.

Required skills

• Knowledge of MEP systems and maintenance planning.
• Energy consumption monitoring and optimisation.
• Experience with service level agreement (SLA) and key performance indicator (KPI) tracking.
