PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) Nurse

About the role

A prestigious, internationally accredited healthcare institution in Dubai is seeking experienced, highly skilled Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nurses. The role suits Western-trained nurses who want to advance their careers in a dynamic, multicultural environment. PACU nurses provide immediate post-operative care to patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring their safety, comfort and swift recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to post-operative patients in the recovery unit.
• Monitor vital signs and consciousness levels following anesthesia and surgery.
• Assess patients for pain, nausea or other post-surgical complications and intervene appropriately.
• Collaborate closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons and other multidisciplinary team members.
• Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation and patient records.
• Provide emotional support to patients and families during recovery.
• Adhere to international best practices and infection control protocols.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a Western-accredited institution (e.g. UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa).
• Minimum 2 years of recent PACU experience in a hospital setting.
• Eligible for or in possession of a DHA license or eligibility letter.
• Willingness to work in Dubai.

Required skills

• BLS and ACLS certification (mandatory).
• Strong critical thinking, clinical decision-making and communication skills.
• Ability to stay calm and professional in high-pressure, fast-paced situations.
• Culturally sensitive, patient-focused and collaborative approach.
