Part-Time Medical Director - Stem Cells & Cellular Therapy

About the role

A specialized stem cell processing, banking and cellular therapy laboratory in Dubai is seeking an experienced Part-Time Medical Director to provide medical and clinical oversight. The successful candidate must be a DHA-licensed physician with relevant experience in stem cells, cellular therapy and/or regenerative medicine.

Key responsibilities

• Provide medical oversight for stem cell processing and banking activities and for cellular therapy product processing.
• Review and approve medical SOPs and clinical policies, and give medical input on product suitability and release.
• Support activities involving cord blood, cord tissue, MSCs, bone marrow, adipose-derived cells and other cellular products within the facility's approved scope.
• Review medical incidents, adverse events, deviations and clinical risks requiring physician input.
• Work with the Laboratory Director, Quality and Regulatory teams, and support compliance with DHA and other UAE regulatory requirements.
• Take part in DHA inspections, audits and licensing activities when required, and oversee staff training and competency documentation from a medical perspective.
• Collaborate with hospitals, treating physicians, universities and research institutions, and support the medical review of clinical research and cellular therapy programs.

Required profile

• Medical doctor (MBBS, MD or equivalent).
• Active DHA physician license.
• Specialist or consultant in Pathology, Haematology, Transfusion Medicine or another related field relevant to cellular therapy.
• Relevant experience in stem cells and/or cellular therapy, including cellular therapy product processing and recent practical stem cell processing experience in line with DHA requirements.
• Strong understanding of clinical governance, patient safety and cellular therapy standards.
• Ability to undertake the Medical Director responsibilities for a stem cell processing facility; the role is part-time with scheduled on-site attendance in Dubai.

Preferred experience

• MSCs, cord blood and cord tissue, bone marrow and adipose-derived cell processing, cell culture and expansion.
• Previous experience in a stem cell bank, cellular therapy facility or cell-processing laboratory.
• Familiarity with AABB, FACT/JACIE, GMP/GxP or equivalent standards, and with DHA regulatory requirements.
• Experience supporting clinical trials or research involving cellular therapies.
