Party Chief - Survey

About the role

The Party Chief – Survey leads offshore survey teams for marine construction projects, ensuring safe and efficient execution of positioning and data‑collection activities. This role combines technical expertise with team leadership to support client objectives and maintain high safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist new and fellow employees in performing their work in accordance with safe work procedures.
• Coordinate and communicate with clients, crew members, and project managers.
• Conduct and document daily Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and safety pre‑tower meetings.
• Oversee offshore operations, including personnel, daily progress, and asset utilization.
• Train and mentor field personnel, ensuring compliance with OII, DOTD, or client‑specific requirements.
• Report unsafe conditions or practices immediately to supervisors.
• Manage and carry out specific job tasks as requested by the client or project manager.

Required profile

• Two‑year technical degree or higher in a STEM field.
• Three or more years of experience as a senior surveyor in marine construction or positioning survey.
• Valid driver’s license with a suitable driving record.
• Ability to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with major survey equipment manufacturer’s software.

Required skills

• Proficiency with GPS, USBL, LBL and navigation software.
• Experience using major survey equipment manufacturer’s software.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and offshore operational protocols.
