Planning Engineer - Steel

About the role

Careers International is recruiting a Planning Engineer for steel fabrication, manufacturing and construction projects in Dubai. The Planning Engineer develops, monitors and updates project schedules, working with project managers, production teams and procurement to deliver projects on time, within budget and to the highest standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and update project schedules using software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project, including work breakdown structures, aligned with the contract scope and KPIs
• Allocate labour, materials and equipment, and forecast usage with the production and procurement teams
• Track progress against the schedule, analyse critical path and float, and implement recovery plans for delays
• Assist in preparing budgets, monitor costs and report cost variances to management
• Identify risks and prepare contingency plans, and liaise with contractors and suppliers for timely deliveries
• Integrate quality milestones into the schedule and document non-conformities
• Prepare regular progress reports and lessons-learned documentation

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• 3-5 years of project planning experience in the steel industry, construction or heavy manufacturing
• Project management or planning certification (e.g. PMI-SP, PSP) is an advantage
• Familiarity with steel structure standards such as AISC and ASME

Required skills

• Proven use of Primavera P6, Microsoft Project or similar scheduling software
• Knowledge of critical path analysis, resource leveling and project management principles
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills, able to work under pressure
