PMC Construction Manager - Fabrication Yard

About the role

Wood is hiring a Construction Manager for its PMC team in Abu Dhabi, working on ADNOC projects. The role manages, coordinates and oversees all fabrication and construction activities carried out by EPC contractors and fabrication subcontractors, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget and to the required quality and safety standards. It covers structural steel fabrication, piping spool fabrication, module assembly, mechanical equipment installation, welding, inspection coordination, surface preparation, coating and preparation for load-out and transportation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall PMC oversight of fabrication and construction activities, ensuring works follow approved execution plans, IFC/AFC drawings, technical specifications, ADNOC standards and international codes.
• Oversee fabrication of structural steel, piping spools, pipe racks, skids, process modules, equipment supports, platforms and other components, and monitor module assembly, equipment installation and piping integration.
• Review contractor construction strategies, execution plans, work packages, method statements and sequencing, and identify constructability issues and engineering discrepancies.
• Ensure adequate facilities, manpower, equipment, materials and specialist resources are available, and approve proposed fabrication changes and field modifications.
• Monitor progress against the baseline schedule, production targets and milestones; review schedules, look-ahead plans, manpower histograms and productivity reports, and coordinate with PMC Planning and Project Controls.
• Track progress through material receipt, cutting, fit-up, welding, NDT, inspection, assembly, coating and final release, and challenge contractor forecasts and recovery plans.
• Lead fabrication progress review meetings with contractors and subcontractors, recommend resequencing and additional resources, and report status, risks and mitigation plans to the PMC Project Manager.
• Monitor contractor performance, staffing levels, welding personnel and inspection resources, and resolve execution constraints with engineering, procurement, QA/QC, planning, logistics, offshore installation and commissioning teams.
