PMC Senior Instrument and Control Engineer

About the role

Wood is looking for an experienced PMC Senior Instrument and Control Engineer in Abu Dhabi to oversee and coordinate all instrumentation and control engineering activities for a high-profile client. The engineer ensures that design, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up are carried out safely, efficiently and in line with project specifications, industry standards and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Review and supervise all I&C engineering activities of EPC contractors and vendors, and approve instrument data sheets, specifications, control philosophies, cause-and-effect and loop diagrams.
• Evaluate DCS, PLC, ESD, F&G and SCADA designs, and take part in HAZOP, SIL and functional safety assessments.
• Coordinate with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Telecom and Safety disciplines, and review vendor proposals and technical bids.
• Monitor engineering progress and deliverables, and provide technical support during detailed engineering, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up.
• Resolve technical queries and deviations, witness FATs, SATs, loop checks and functional tests, and verify installation, calibration and commissioning of field instruments.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical & Instrumentation, Control Systems or a related discipline; a Master's is an advantage.
• Typically 15+ years in I&C engineering in oil & gas, LNG, refinery, petrochemical, offshore, power or industrial projects.
• At least 5 years in PMC, EPC or major capital projects in a senior engineering role.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IEC, ISA, API, NFPA, NORSOK and ISO standards.
• Extensive experience with DCS, PLC, SCADA, ESD, SIS and F&G systems.
• HAZOP, SIL assessment, functional safety and risk management.
