PMC Specialist Engineer (Planning)

About the role

Wood is hiring a PMC Specialist Engineer (Planning) in Abu Dhabi for a high-profile client in the energy sector. The role develops, monitors and controls project schedules so that projects are delivered within approved timelines, budgets and quality requirements, supporting project management decisions with schedule analysis, progress measurement, forecasting and risk assessment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, monitor and maintain the overall project schedule aligned with project objectives and milestones
• Review and validate EPC contractor schedules, resource plans, progress measurements and recovery plans
• Prepare and update master schedules, detailed engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning schedules
• Monitor progress, identify deviations and delays, perform critical path analysis and recommend corrective actions
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and project control teams
• Develop progress measurement systems and KPIs, and prepare weekly/monthly reports, dashboards, S-curves and management presentations
• Analyze performance against plan, forecast completion, and support execution plans, WBS and planning procedures
• Conduct schedule risk assessments and develop mitigation and recovery strategies
• Review contractor claims on schedule impacts, delays and extensions of time
• Monitor manpower utilization, productivity and resource loading, and support budget monitoring with schedule inputs

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline; MBA advantageous
• Minimum 15+ years of experience in project planning, scheduling and project controls in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, LNG, Refinery, Infrastructure, Energy or Industrial projects
• Proven experience in PMC, EPC, Owners Engineer or major capital project environments
• Experience across FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up
• Track record managing complex schedules for large greenfield and brownfield projects
• PMP, AACE, PRINCE2 or equivalent certification preferred
