Practical Nurse – OPD Surgical Clinic

About the role

The Practical Nurse will work in the Out‑Patient Department (OPD) of a busy surgical clinic, delivering patient‑centered care under the supervision of Registered Nurses. The role supports the clinic’s mission to provide safe, efficient and compassionate services to patients in Abu Dhabi.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and implement nursing care plans for patients, following the Abu Dhabi Nursing Scope of Practice.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including meal distribution and hygiene support.
• Monitor and promptly report any significant changes in patient condition to the supervising RN.
• Respond to emergencies according to clinic policies and procedures.
• Document patient interactions accurately in electronic medical records and communicate verbally and in writing with patients or their representatives.
• Maintain and stock examination rooms and clinic stations to ensure efficient workflow.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver coordinated, patient‑centered care.
• Support RNs and clerical staff with administrative duties as needed.

Required profile

• Licensed Practical Nurse (or equivalent) authorized to practice in Abu Dhabi.
• Works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and is accountable for personal actions.
• Familiar with the professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi.
• Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families and the healthcare team.
• Commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics.

Required skills

• Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems for documentation and information retrieval.
