Principal Electrical Design Engineer – Data Centres

About the role

We are seeking a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to lead the electrical engineering of hyperscale and enterprise data centre projects across the UAE and the wider MENA region. You will own the full design lifecycle, ensuring that each facility meets the highest standards of reliability, scalability and energy efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the electrical system design for hyperscale and enterprise data centres, delivering complete design packages (drawings, schematics, technical reports).
• Ensure compliance with international codes (IEEE, IEC, NFPA) and local authority standards.
• Drive innovation in resiliency, redundancy and sustainable energy efficiency.
• Project‑manage multidisciplinary teams, controlling schedules, budgets and quality.
• Conduct site inspections and oversee QA/QC during construction.
• Prepare and manage tender processes, including RFPs, contractor evaluation and vendor coordination.
• Present design solutions to clients, stakeholders and industry bodies.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative team culture.

Required profile

• 10+ years of MEP building services design experience, with at least 5 years on data centre projects in the Middle East.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering.
• Proven experience with hyperscale or mission‑critical facilities.
• Strong knowledge of international standards such as IEEE, NFPA, ASHRAE, IEC and Uptime Institute.
