Principal Electrical Load & Power Management Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Principal Electrical Load & Power Management Engineer to lead the analysis, budgeting, and management of electrical power across aircraft systems. You will ensure that essential and flight‑critical systems remain powered under normal and failure conditions, shaping the aircraft’s power strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Own aircraft electrical load analysis and power budget across flight phases, duty cycles, growth allowances and margins.
• Manage and negotiate power requirements across multiple aircraft systems.
• Define essential and emergency electrical buses, load categorisation, and load‑shedding strategies.
• Develop power‑management and automatic reconfiguration logic.
• Support safety assessments, including electrical failure modes and continued safe flight and landing analysis.
• Characterise electrical loads for mission and medical equipment.
• Provide power and energy requirements to the wider aircraft integration team.
• Define and support power‑quality and electrical load testing, including load‑bank and integration testing.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in aircraft electrical systems engineering.
• At least 4 years owning or maintaining aircraft electrical load analysis and power budgets.
• Strong background in essential and emergency electrical architecture.
• Proven ability to manage power budgets across multiple engineering disciplines.
