Principal Engineer - Dry Utilities

About the role

Parsons is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead dry‑utilities design for large‑scale infrastructure projects in Abu Dhabi. You will be responsible for delivering high‑quality electrical power distribution, lighting, earthing and life‑safety solutions for community developments, tunnels, car parks and related structures.

Key responsibilities

• Independently design HV/LV power distribution systems, lighting layouts and earthing schemes in accordance with IEC/IEEE standards.
• Perform power cable sizing, load‑flow studies, short‑circuit analysis and earthing calculations using industry software.
• Develop detailed designs for pump stations, treatment plants, MV/LV/FOC/ELV systems in tunnels and under‑passes.
• Design fire‑alarm and life‑safety systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA and local civil‑defense regulations.
• Provide technical guidance to CAD designers, drafters and junior engineers on project deliverables.
• Prepare technical, commercial and life‑cycle cost analyses, recommending value‑engineering options.
• Produce and present detailed technical reports and client presentations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited university.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in electrical design and construction for large infrastructure, road lighting, telecom networks or road‑bridge projects.
• Familiarity with TAQA requirements and local utility standards.
