Principal Engineer – Proposals

About the role

Petrofac is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the preparation of competitive techno‑commercial proposals for energy infrastructure projects. The role supports the company’s transition to alternative energy sources and requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead or participate in a team of engineers to develop techno‑commercial proposals that meet client specifications and assess associated risks.
• Prepare proposal summaries for supervisory review, including technical, financial, schedule, and risk assessments to inform bid/no‑bid decisions.
• Develop and monitor proposal schedules, flagging any slippages to the supervisor.
• Create Table of Contents/Index for technical, un‑priced, and priced commercial proposals, clearly assigning responsibilities and dates.
• Generate scope and effort matrices when working with joint‑venture partners or subcontractors and integrate inputs for client submission.
• Identify critical un‑priced commercial enclosures (e.g., bank guarantees, parent company guarantees, powers of attorney) early and coordinate with relevant departments to secure them.
• Conduct periodic review meetings with the proposal team, resolve constraints, and ensure all timelines are met.
• Clarify client inquiries, manage interdisciplinary inputs, and ensure smooth delivery of all proposal documents.

Required profile

• Engineering background with experience in preparing techno‑commercial proposals.
• Proven ability to lead or work within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong analytical skills for risk, cost, and schedule assessment.
• Familiarity with client requirements and commercial documentation processes.
