Principal Instrumentation Engineer

About the role

Worley is seeking a Principal Instrumentation Engineer to lead the design and engineering of instrumentation and control systems for ADNOC oil & gas projects. The role focuses on advanced engineering work across FEED, detailed engineering, EPC and PMC phases, with limited construction support.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and review all instrumentation and control deliverables, including instrument indexes, I/O lists, control philosophies, datasheets, hook‑up drawings, cable schedules, loop drawings, and control system architecture.
• Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards, IEC, ISA, API and other international codes.
• Review FEED and detailed engineering outputs from EPC contractors and participate in technical clarification meetings.
• Support optimisation of control systems, field instrumentation, and automation philosophies.
• Evaluate DCS, ESD, F&G, SCADA and PLC engineering documents, coordinate interface management with telecom, electrical, process and mechanical disciplines.
• Assess SIL classification studies, alarm management philosophy and cybersecurity requirements where applicable.
• Review FAT/SAT procedures and vendor technical documentation.
• Coordinate with vendors, review their documents, resolve comments, and support bid evaluations and vendor selection.
• Monitor EPC contractor progress and quality, providing technical assurance and ensuring package compliance.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in instrumentation and control engineering for oil & gas projects.
• Strong knowledge of ADNOC standards and international codes (IEC, ISA, API).
• Proven ability to lead design reviews and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience with FEED, detailed engineering, EPC and PMC phases.
