Principal Marine Operations Specialist

About the role

The Principal Marine Operations Specialist works in offshore oil and gas operations, covering strategic marine resource planning, fleet optimization, offshore demand forecasting and project execution support. The specialist develops and monitors marine resource plans, vessel utilization strategies and cost optimization initiatives, and acts as a focal point for marine operation controls, risk and opportunity management and business case development. The role is independent with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Develop marine resource forecasts, vessel deployment plans and capacity models, and turn project pipelines, tenders and awarded projects into executable marine resource plans
• Monitor resource utilization, identify constraints and recommend mitigation strategies; support project planning, scheduling and project controls
• Optimize vessel deployment and fleet utilization, and manage cost-saving initiatives on vessel operations, logistics, chartering and resource allocation
• Analyze utilization trends and performance metrics to reduce idle time and support chartering and asset deployment strategies
• Prepare business cases, economic evaluations and cost-benefit analyses, and provide marine planning input for tenders, proposals and pre-award activities
• Lead risk and opportunity assessments on vessel availability and resource constraints, and develop mitigation and optimization plans
• Develop management reports, dashboards, forecasts and performance metrics, and improve planning methods, forecasting tools and reporting systems

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• Minimum 10 years of experience in offshore oil and gas, marine operations, operations planning, project controls or resource management
• Proven experience with major EPCI/EPC contractors on offshore and marine projects
• Strong background in marine operations, resource forecasting and capacity planning
• Demonstrated experience in risk and opportunity management and project performance improvement
• Experience preparing business cases, cost optimization studies, investment evaluations and strategic recommendations

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI and planning and reporting tools
• Understanding of offshore vessel operations, marine logistics, chartering practices and fleet management
• Advanced analytical, commercial and problem-solving skills
• Stakeholder management, communication and leadership in multicultural project environments
