Principal Navigation Engineer

About the role

AL TARIQ, a leading aerospace company, is seeking a Principal Navigation Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of flight control and guidance systems for next‑generation UAVs and aerospace platforms. The role involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safety, performance, and certification compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and integrate flight control and guidance systems for UAVs and aerospace platforms.
• Develop and optimise control algorithms to meet stability, performance and safety requirements.
• Create dynamic system models and simulations using MATLAB/Simulink.
• Perform system verification through simulation, SIL/HIL, ground testing and flight testing.
• Investigate system issues, conduct fault analysis and improve robustness.
• Collaborate with avionics, software, mechanical and systems engineering teams.
• Prepare technical documentation, test reports and design artifacts in line with aerospace standards.
• Manage engineering activities to meet project timelines and quality objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Control, Systems Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 5–7+ years of experience in flight control, guidance or control systems engineering within the aerospace industry.
• Strong experience developing control algorithms for UAVs, aircraft or autonomous systems.
• Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, C/C++ and/or Python.
• Solid understanding of dynamic system modelling, control theory and simulation techniques.
• Experience with SIL/HIL verification and flight testing.
• Familiarity with aerospace standards such as DO‑178C, DO‑254 and ARP4754 is an advantage.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and teamwork skills.
