Principal Nuclear Risk Management Engineer

About the role

The Principal Nuclear Risk Management Engineer will lead the development, review and implementation of risk management models and programs for the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP). This senior position ensures that all probabilistic risk assessments, accident management plans and severe accident analyses meet regulatory requirements and are delivered on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Design, review and implement as‑operated Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) models to support the Operating License Application and ensure plant safety.
• Identify and develop event trees and fault trees based on plant‑specific design and operating conditions.
• Maintain and update the PRA database, integrating equipment failure and reactor trip data into the Risk Monitoring System (RIMS) and Phoenix model.
• Review and incorporate updates to the Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) and PRA documentation.
• Provide independent risk evaluations to operations, maintenance and work management teams.
• Assess and develop short‑ and long‑term Post‑Fukushima Action Plans addressing external events such as fire, flooding, seismic activity, sand storms and tsunamis.
• Lead Severe Accident Analysis activities, ensuring compliance with Federal Authority Nuclear Regulation (FANR) requirements.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in nuclear risk management and PRA model development.
• Strong knowledge of FANR regulations and international nuclear safety standards.
• Proven ability to work with cross‑functional teams and deliver high‑quality technical documentation.
