Process Engineer – Soldering

About the role

The Process Engineer – Soldering will design, set‑up, validate and continuously improve wave, selective wave, manual, robotic soldering and depaneling equipment for PCBA production. The role supports new product introductions, transfers from other plants and ensures robust, compliant processes that meet Eaton’s quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain work instructions for soldering, depaneling and X‑Ray equipment, covering operation and PCBA‑specific procedures.
• Support NPI and transferred PCBA projects by delivering process flow charts, PFMEA, PPAP and other industrialization deliverables.
• Program and optimise wave, selective wave, robot, manual soldering and depaneling lines, tracking cycle times and updating RCCP data.
• Manage tool procurement, equipment programming standards and side‑processes such as frame cleaning and tip management.
• Act as technical liaison with other Eaton plants and EMS partners, define CAPEX needs and lead benchmark studies with equipment suppliers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in PCBA soldering manufacturing engineering.
• Proven experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
• Strong documentation skills, attention to detail and ability to work with cross‑functional stakeholders.

Required skills

• Wave, selective wave, robot and manual soldering set‑up (ERSA, Japan Unix, etc.).
• Depaneling equipment (Asys, Maestro) and X‑Ray inspection (OMRON Inline).
• Programming of soldering and X‑Ray equipment, analysis of inspection results.
• IPC‑A610 Class 3 knowledge (certification a plus).
• ESD safety procedures, PCB & THT component knowledge, component gluing processes.
