Process Engineer (Water & Desalination)

About the role

An experienced Process Engineer is sought to support the design, engineering and optimisation of water treatment, wastewater treatment and desalination plants. The role requires strong technical expertise in process design, engineering calculations, equipment selection and plant performance optimisation, together with proven Gulf-region experience. It is an on-site position in Abu Dhabi.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop process solutions for water treatment, wastewater treatment and desalination plants.
• Prepare process calculations, process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, hydraulic calculations and technical specifications.
• Carry out process design reviews and ensure compliance with client requirements and industry standards.
• Size and select equipment such as pumps, membranes, filters, chemical dosing systems, clarifiers and pressure vessels.
• Support proposal, engineering, procurement and project execution teams through all project phases, and review tender documents and technical specifications.
• Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, startup and troubleshooting.
• Optimise plant performance and recommend improvements to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical and instrumentation teams and ensure compliance with environmental, safety and quality standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 8-15 years of experience in process engineering within the water treatment industry.
• Proven experience in water treatment, wastewater treatment and desalination plants, including a minimum of 5 years of hands-on desalination work (RO, SWRO, BWRO or similar).
• GCC/UAE experience is mandatory.
• Experience preparing and reviewing technical proposals and project documentation.
