Procurement Engineer – MEP

About the role

The Procurement Engineer – MEP will analyse material requisitions for various contracts, identify suitable suppliers, negotiate optimal prices and manage logistics to ensure timely delivery. The role also includes maintaining inventory levels according to company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior staff in procuring materials, equipment, labour hire, sub‑contracts and services following company purchasing policies.
• Obtain, review and compare supplier quotes, then recommend selections to the Senior Officer Purchase.
• Place orders and monitor delivery schedules to ensure materials reach the job site on time.
• Maintain accurate purchase and inventory records and monitor supplier performance for quality and timeliness.
• Collaborate with divisional, project and site managers to understand material requirements and procure accordingly.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and report them to management.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, regulatory and legal requirements.
• Develop and sustain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to improve the procurement experience.

Required profile

• Graduation preferably in Commerce or a Diploma in Engineering; supply‑chain certification is a plus.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in MEP project material purchasing within a construction or contracting environment.
