Product Design & Development Manager

About the role

The client seeks a Product Design & Development Manager who can turn ideas into market‑ready products across categories such as beauty, jewellery, accessories, gifting and tween/teen lifestyle items. This role blends strong design sensibility with deep knowledge of materials, packaging, suppliers, sampling, costing and production.

Key responsibilities

• Translate product ideas and brand direction into commercially viable concepts, mood boards, colour palettes and material specifications.
• Own the full product development cycle from idea through design, supplier brief, sampling, costing, approval and production.
• Develop packaging that is premium yet cost‑effective, coordinating with graphic designers and reviewing samples.
• Manage relationships with factories in China, India and other hubs, negotiate MOQs, materials and resolve development issues.
• Control costing to meet target retail price and margin, identifying cost‑saving opportunities without compromising quality.

Required profile

• 4‑6 years of hands‑on product design and development experience in consumer goods such as beauty, jewellery, accessories or gifting.
• Strong portfolio of physical products that you have taken from concept to market launch.
• Proven ability to work directly with suppliers, manage sampling rounds and drive projects to completion.
• Commercial awareness of target pricing, margins and cost structures.
