Production Operator - Gas Plant and Pipeline Network

About the role

This Production Operator position is part of a team responsible for all operations activities on the process and utility systems and pipeline network, to the standards demanded. The operator follows directions from the Production Supervisor within a multi-disciplined team providing operations and maintenance for Khor Khwair Gas Plant and gas distribution facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Follow Gas and Oil Processing Facility Operating Principles without compromise and take full part in hands-on field operations, reporting abnormalities to the Central Control Room Operator (CCRO).
• Start and stop equipment according to CCRO instructions and stand in for the CCRO as panel operator when needed.
• Log and monitor process parameters in plant and distribution RTUs, taking corrective action under the Standard Operating Procedure when parameters go out of range.
• Work with maintenance and operations teams to keep plant and machinery running safely and stably, and coordinate work so it fits production needs.
• Take part in third-party worksite preparation such as isolation, de-isolation, depressurization and pressurization of vessels and lines for Permit-to-Work.
• Ensure risk assessments cover all activities, especially changes, and that permit holders use proper tools, materials and PPE.
• Issue cold and vehicle-entry permits as part of the Permit-to-Work system, and ensure areas are clean after maintenance.
• Comply with HSE requirements, report near misses, incidents and accidents, and perform emergency response duties when needed.
• Perform gas nomination activities with clients and customers more accurately, and carry out any other duties reasonably required by the company.

Required profile

• Technical diploma or degree in chemical engineering or chemistry.
• 10 years of relevant experience, especially in gas processing and pipeline operation.

Required skills

• DCS panel operation and gas pipeline operation are an added advantage.
